Anyone who knows me even just a little bit has probably noticed that I have a penchant for dresses. Specifically, I go weak in the knees for a dress that moves well when I’m dancing. When it comes to dancing, I’m a twirling machine thanks to the “too much fun” dance (very appropriately named) from Sine Wave, and I need dresses that can keep up with that. I’ve also been trying my hand at more clothing-focused photography in Second Life for something different, so I’ve decided to combine the two interests into posts here about some of my favorite dresses. These will pop up no more than once a week and only when I’m feeling particularly inspired for some reason.
The first dress I’m highlighting in this little informal series of mine is Lady Bathory from Exile. I’m showing it here in purple, but it also comes in red, black, and blue. You can see the red version on the Exile blog, but you should visit the shop to see all the colors. Definitely take a look at all the hair while you’re there like the Paige hair I’m wearing in these shots. Paige goes really nicely with Lady Bathory because it doesn’t interfere at all with that stunning collar.
It’s hard to even know where to start when it comes to describing Lady Bathory because I just love the whole look so much. The collar and cuffs are bold and add to the dramatic feel of the dress. You’re certainly going to make an entrance when you’re wearing this. I also like the attention to details in the top of the dress like the laced-up neckline and the bit of skin that shows between the short jacket and the rest of the dress. Because of my previously mentioned twirling addiction, I’m of course most enamored of the double-layered skirt. The movement of these is breathtaking, and I can be absolutely mesmerized watching the top semi-transparent layer float one way over the top of the longer opaque underskirt as it moves in the opposite direction. There’s also a sculpted piece at the waist that makes the entire skirt remind me of an upside-down flower.
So who is going to join me for a dance now?
