I should probably be working on a blog post for the Exile blog, but Kavar went to sleep finally, and I decided to play with shadows. Venus brought out the faun in me, so I ran off to the Alirium forest sim for photos.

The second look I want to share is very typical Brandy from the cusp of 2007/2008 after I had stopped spending much time in Caledon. The Chai Siyu skin was pretty much the only skin I wore for most of 2008. The Surf Couture sweater was the very first item I ever fatpacked in SL, and I wore them with everything, but I particularly liked them with the Trusty jeans from Launa Fauna, the first jeans to win my heart in SL.

The hair is vintage Exile, the hair that was a huge turning point for me really. I loved the rich black texture, which seemed hard to find back then because I kept finding blacks that had too much gray and white in them. In a very uncharacteristic move, I IMed the creator to gush about the hair, and the next thing I knew, we were best friends. The power of a good hair cannot be underestimated! That one hair was the beginning of lots of happy changes in my SL experience.

I paused in the doorway and blinked at the faerie perched on the arm of my sofa. Enormous silvery white wings glistened and glimmered in the sunlight, shining through my front windows. Thick waves of hair the color of newly fallen snow fell forward as Portia bent over the box in her hands. I envy her those hands, her fingers are slender and delicate, and her pale skin is flawless. Though small in stature, she does not have the willowy, almost anorexic angles many artists seem to favor when painting faeries and pixies, but instead her form is rounded, curvaceous. Aspiring artists also have faerie fashion all wrong – they don’t usually go for flowers or diaphanous gowns. Portia likes ripped jeans in a bleached 1980s style, white fishnet stockings, combat boots, and torn sweatshirts. I keep waiting for her to update her style, but she must be waiting for it to come back.

Most of this outfit is pulled straight from my inventory though I did find that my extensive jeans collection was missing the bleached and ripped variety, so I went shopping for those and chose an older release from Dutch Touch. Because Portia is described as she’s perched on a sofa arm, I thought it would be fun to get a shot on the big sofa from Grim Bros. It’s just perfect for a fairy and has a lot of fun poses in the many cushions and pillows.

Oversized furniture made me think of the giant pocket watch I have out in one of my sky gardens, so that was the next stop for photos. This Wonderland-inspired mushroom and pocket watch set from Studio Sidhe is one of my favorite pose props that I’ve ever bought. It’s bright and whimsical and includes great poses though for this entry I’m using a pose from Lazy Places and not the included poses.

I’m still trying to get the hang of taking photos with SL shadows, so I thought I’d share the latest effort here too and give a close-up of how well the skin and hair go together. I adore this big hair, and I keep finding excuses to wear it.

Two of the other styles in the gatcha machine are Hearts and Batty, and as you can see from the inset, they have different trim where the rhinestones are on the Classy style. In addition to the glasses, Lazy Places has a necklace gatcha, and the names are as cute as the actual jewelry. Locked Away The Key has a tiny key and heart in a round cage, and Fortunate in Love has a fortune cookie with a heart as the fortune.

Speaking of cute, when you click the glasses to change the texture of the bow, you get a little affirmation in classic Lazy Places style. “[LP] Cute Nerdy Girl Glasses (Stars) Click Bow to Change!: Setting texture to Red. You iz all pretty now. ^_^”

The skin is the newest skin release from Exile, and I want to do a more in-depth post about it soon, but for now, I’ll just mention that this Lynx makeup is my favorite in the Rapture line, and you should all grab the demos and see what you think about the skin on your own shape. The shoes are new from Juicy and though they’re called Victorian, they remind me more of the sneaker heels I’ve seen from time to time. No matter what they’re called, I really like this white version. I think it’s because the texture reminds me of the white patent leather shoes I wore with my Easter dresses when I was a kid.

Fluff ‘n’ Stuff has 6 poses in the set, and my only complaint is one of greed because I want more poses. I think I’m going to have to beg for a Fluff ‘n’ Stuff: The Sequel soon. As you can see, these will be great for my blogging, and even with me being a larger avatar, I can comfortably use the poses with skirts and dresses without my hands being obscured. I think these will be quite useful to anyone who likes poofier skirts for that reason.

I’m wearing items from silentsparrow released as part of the Black Bacchanalia event currently going on in the Rookery on the silentsparrow sim. Go to the silentsparrow main store and click the mushrooms to see some great items. I always love hyasynth’s creations, but I was especially excited to see all the lovely purple bats on these new pieces.

I also want to point out the gorgeous skin I’m wearing. It’s part of the current egg hunt at Frick, which is a great deal because you can spend L$1 per egg and get a dress or skin. The skins in the hunt are using Fricka’s new lips, and I think these are the most flattering on my shape of any of the lips she’s had in the past, so I’m looking forward to more releases from her. The Bite Me tattoo makes me laugh, and it’s also just L$1 from Lolapop! The Sianita dress just screamed spring to me with the color and the fabric. The trim reminded me of the dresses my grandmother used to make for me when I was little, so all signs pointed to “BUY!” and I did. This dress comes in several colors and a darker denim option as well, and looking at these photos, I’m kicking myself for not getting the fat pack. I also want to point out the skin since it’s a sneak peek at the upcoming skin line from Exile. Kavar doesn’t have these packaged up for the shop yet because he’s still playing with makeups, but I’ve been wearing the prototypes for a while now. I’m kind of hoping this will prod him into releasing them soon.

The second dress I want to show today is the CandyFlower dress in purple, and it might not seem like a spring dress at first glance, but I think the colors and the flowers help it fit in the transition between seasons. It seems perfect for the cooler spring days. As I was trying to decide what to wear with the dress, I realized that a lot of the purples in my inventory work quite well together. The pose used here isn’t released yet, but I believe SakuraDawn Lei of Lazy Places is releasing it as part of her offering for the upcoming pose fair. It’s part of a set called Fluff ‘n’ Stuff (so cute!) that’s designed with larger avatars in mind, but they’ll work great for everyone. I’ll do a post all about them when they’re released.
